Physical activity is any voluntary movement carried out by skeletal muscles, which produces additional energy expenditure than what our body needs to maintain its main functions.

Therefore, physical activity is walking, playing, running, cleaning the house, the car, climbing stairs, etc. When physical activity is planned, organized and repeated with the goal of maintaining or improving our physical condition, it is called physical exercise. Physical activity beneficial for health is that of moderate intensity that is performed daily or almost every day for a duration of 30 minutes.

There are two types of physical activity that can fit your needs:

Aerobic physical activity:

It is long-lasting, low intensity and requires oxygen, it helps strengthen the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, reduces stress and helps you maintain a healthy weight. To do this you can walk, run moderate to long distances, cycle, dance, Zumba, etc.

Anaerobic physical activity:

It is of short duration, with high intensity and does not require oxygen for its execution. Helps increase strength, power and develop muscles.

Examples: weight lifting, short runs, gym work, etc.

Getting physically active doesn't have to be a big effort. Start with a 10-minute walk. and then increase the time little by little. Remember that you can do it through everyday tasks, such as walking and strolling, climbing stairs, using a bicycle or doing household tasks that require moderate physical effort.
